Pick a side. File a bid. Your money is added to that side's running total. The side with the higher total holds the ruling, and the ruling flips the instant the other side passes it. When the countdown ends, whatever the ruling says at that moment is what it says permanently.

There is no committee, no jury and no appeal. The money is the only testimony that counts.

Both sides share one floor of $5.00. Bids are filed in whole $5 steps, and anything in between is rounded up to the next step — never down, so a bid priced to flip the ruling always flips it. The amount shown in the payment step is the amount you are charged.

You never have to overtake the other side to file a bid. You only have to overtake it to flip the ruling, and the site tells you exactly what that costs before you pay.

A single bid of $50,000 triggers the Settle Clause: the countdown stops immediately and the ruling freezes as it stands.

Every bid is a real charge in USD, paid by card or PayPal. Bids are final and non-refundable. A bid is only counted once the payment processor confirms it — unconfirmed and abandoned checkouts never touch the totals.

This is not a charity, a vote, a poll, an investment or a game of chance. Nothing is returned, and nothing is won except the ruling and your name on it.

Every bid needs a name or a link — there are no anonymous filings. You may attach a link to your site or profile and a message of up to 140 characters. All three appear next to your bid in The Docket and stay there permanently, and your link is clickable for every visitor.

Names and links are typed by the bidder and are not verified. Do not treat a handle here as proof that a person or brand actually filed the bid. Links are accepted over HTTPS only and carry nofollow.

Slurs and impersonation are refused before a filing is accepted. Every entry in The Docket has a report link; entries that draw repeated reports are hidden from the page and removed from the totals pending review. Hiding an entry does not refund it.

The bid itself, the name, link and message you typed, the payment reference from the processor, and a salted one-way hash of your IP address used for rate limiting and the visitor count. We never see or store your card details — those go directly to the payment processor.

The court opened with a handful of founding bids on both sides so that neither side started from zero and the first real bidder had something to argue with. They are marked in The Docket like any other entry, and every bid since then is a real payment from a real person.
